Choosing the Right Kitchen Hardware for Your Style

Do you think much about the pulls, handles, and knobs in your kitchen? They are like little accessories for your cabinets and drawers. You should take your time to pick the hardware that will add the perfect finishing touches and fit your style.

There are no hard and fast rules. As usual, you should get what you like the best.

Picking Kitchen Hardware for Your Style

Color, style, material. There is a lot to choose from.

Pulls or Knobs

It’s really up to you.

Knobs are generally less expensive and don’t stand out as much as a pull.

Pulls are generally more expensive than knobs and stand out far more on your cabinet door.

Pulls tend to be more appealing and make opening the door easier.

Does Size Really Matter?

Pulls and knobs that are larger or stick out quite a bit can easily get caught on clothing. You probably don’t want them to be too big as they tend to overshadow other things in the space. But if they are too small, they are awkward to grab and get a hold on.

The main point is the ease of use. Just because you love a particular design doesn’t mean it will work well. You use your kitchen a lot. The cabinets get a lot of use so you want the hardware to work for you.

Material and Finish

Wood, metal, glass, there are plenty to choose from. If you have white or warm colors, add a bit of flash with something much brighter, darker, or a bold color.

If you have a lot of stainless steel appliances, find silver hardware to match everything. Silver or black hardware will look nice on grey cabinet doors, too. You can also get the hardware to match your other fittings, like the sink.

Having a hard time deciding? There is no reason why you can’t mix and match them. Find different colors in the same design or different designs with the same finish.

One type for the drawers, the others for the cabinets. You can also mix and match with the knobs and the pulls. But, it’s best to keep to the same finish, as it will look too busy and like it was slapped together.

Go With Style

Choose the hardware to match the design of the cabinets and the entire kitchen. If you have a lot of detail in the cabinets, then you want to find hardware that will be in the same theme.

If you are going for a minimalist look with sleek lines and nothing ornate, then plain hardware is what you will want. Keep the hardware plain with no decorations and plain lines or knobs.

You can also make it shine with your unique personality. Find hardware that has very unusual designs, like suns, moons, flowers, or something else fun and different. Glass or porcelain is also nice and can be painted to match what you want.
